To nurture the innate creativity of young learners as they build self-confidence and healthy living skills while providing an enriching and most of all, adventurous camp experience. With the use of theater, dance, visual arts, science, and character building, campers will walk away with valuable lessons and fun-filled memories.
With so many summer programs and camp choices in the DMV, this is a key question most family's face. Here are a few reasons, and if you need more convincing, browse through our classes and please do not hesitate to contact our program directors if you have more questions.
  • We offer four, one-week sessions conveniently located in Columbia Heights at the Washington Dance Institute.
  • We approach each child’s individual development needs with an open heart and strive to nurture their growth and learning holistically. Our family of staff – their energy, expertise, preparation, commitment to the child and to the camp culture – makes us different.
  • Choose among weekly themed camps that are low staff-to-child ratios, super fun activities and lots of community time to make friends and memories. Our teachers work with your young improviser to help enhance their ability to communicate with others and develop confidence.

About Us

Located in Washington, DC

Driven by a shared vision to foster creativity and confidence in children from early childhood and beyond, certified educators Tsion Teckle and Sylvia Boyle founded Fit Kids Stage in 2014 with a goal to expose children to a world of creativity and healthy living through the use of theater, dance, visual arts, music, science exploration, and character building.

In 2017 we launched the Fit Kids Stage Initiative a multi-year healthy eating campaign for people of all ages in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area and it includes our flagship summer program, Fit Kids Hit the Stage. Throughout the year, we will partner with businesses and community organizations on public awareness campaigns, pop-up events, playdates, and classes. From interactive programs that highlight “Cooking Science” to “Math in the Kitchen”, we create meaningful engagement for incorporating culinary based fun at home and in the classroom.

Fit Kids Hit the Stage is a unique camp experience for kids 3-8. Our program architects have curated an interactive summer camp designed to expose your child to a world of creativity and healthy living through the use of theater, dance, visual arts, music, science exploration, and character building.

Nutrition Education

We practice educational strategies that are designed to facilitate voluntary adoption of food choices and other food and nutrition related behaviors conducive to health and well being.

Improv Theater

A form of theater where most or all of what is performed is created at the moment it is performed and without the use of a prepared written script. In its purest form, the dialogue, action, story, and characters are created collaboratively by the players as the improvisation unfolds in present time.

Creative Movement

A joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity.

Our partners are local artists who specialize in varying genres of the arts and health. Campers are treated to a diverse and enriching learning experience. From Capoeira instructors to skilled jazz vocal artists, our guest specialists give our young learners memorable takeaways.

Visual Arts

Campers are encouraged to create and design using drawings, paintings, sculptures, crafts, photography, video, film-making and various artistic disciplines that include the performing arts, conceptual arts, and textile arts.

Music Appreciation

Fit Kids Stage campers are taught what to listen for and how to understand what they are hearing in different types of music. Each week we drum, sing, dance, play & improvise on instruments and play music-based games.
