Sylvia Boyle

Sylvia Boyle is the creator of Improv Kids and co-creator for the innovative Fit Kids Hit the Stage Programs. Her extensive coursework in Theater and Education has her fully equipped to engage and captivate the attention and imagination of young learners. Sylvia Boyle holds her certification in Elementary Education and in ESL. She currently serves as an educator in Columbia Heights where she utilizes theater arts as one of her many methods of instruction. Prior to her role as an educator in Columbia Heights, she served with AmeriCorps as a Houseparent for a non-profit organization that provides residential, medical and psychological care to children in crisis in Houston, TX. Subsequently, Mrs. Boyle began her teaching career with KIPP Houston Charter Schools and later continued her journey in educating young learners as she ventured towards the east coast. Having the opportunity to serve as an Early Childhood Educator nationally and abroad, she is excited to ensure a quality and theater infused education for every student within her reach.

Mrs. Boyle is a licensed Zumbini Instructor.

Tsion Teckle

Tsion Teckle is the Creator of Kids Fit First and Co- Creator of Fit Kids Hit the Stage Programs. Tsion has a very creative background in Education, Theater, Fitness and Nutrition. She attended The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and Media, before transferring to the University of Maryland where she studied Communications with a focus in Media. She currently serves as an Early- Childhood Educator in Columbia Heights where she has enjoyed working as a Teacher, Mentor and Coach since 2008. Before working in Columbia Heights as a full time teacher, Tsion conducted afterschool programs with children in the DMV, teaching them about Fitness and Nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She also hosted a parent class called “Changing the way your family eats”. She is a dedicated educator. Her goal is to eliminate childhood obesity by helping young children build self-confidence and self-awareness through creative movement, structured play, nutrition education and everyday tips and techniques.

Catherine Cruz

New York native and bilingual educator Catherine Cruz transitioned from the vibrant state of New York to Maryland where her passion for education was ignited. After high school, Catherine immediately sought opportunities to serve in Early Childhood settings. Demonstrating her relentless pursuit of knowledge, Catherine received her Associates in Early Childhood and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in education to obtain her teaching certification. Having extensive experience in working with children ages 3-8 for over 7 years, Catherine comes to the Fit Kids team with great exuberance, knowledge and creativity!

Clara MacNeil

Clara graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Spanish and Psychology. She received her MA in Educational Leadership and Administration from The George Washington University last summer. She has spent the past ten years providing childcare, tutoring, and teaching children. During college, Clara worked at Campus View Child Care Center for two years. Over the summer following college, Clara worked with Summer Advantage USA in Indianapolis, Indiana. She then moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to work with at-risk youth as a teacher, counselor, and mentor at Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp through AmeriCorps. In 2012, she moved to Washington, DC, where she currently resides. She teaches Pre-K at AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School, serving as a Mentor Teacher in Ward 8. Last summer, she completed the Urban Education Leaders Internship Program through DCPS. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, yoga, and training for races. She is very excited to teach this summer at Fit Kids Hit The Stage!

Colleen Shea

Colleen Shea is a native Floridian who studied Journalism and History at the University of Florida. After college, she desired to use her communication skills to do service in an area of high need, thus becoming an Americorps VISTA member where she partnered with a social services organization to assist children in the adoption process. After completing her service,Colleen taught English in Taiwan where she fell in love with teaching young children. She currently is an educator within Columbia Heights where she focuses on closing the achievement gap before children reach Kindergarten. Colleen is excited to bring her love of art, dance, yoga and fitness to camp this summer.This will be her second summer with Fit Kids Hit the Stage.
